WHAT'Sat U.S. GLOBEC

20 April 2005:

  • National Geographic will be airing four 1-hour segments on the "Strange Days on Planet Earth" On Wednesdays, April 20 and 27 at 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. This should be shown on local PBS stations. One of the local NOAA oceanographers at Hatfield Marine Science Center, Bill Peterson, is interviewed in "The One Degree Factor" episode. Bill also is a former US GLOBEC SSC Member and active researcher. Rumor has it he is wearing his GLOBEC hat throughout his segment!

30 December 2004:

  • DRAFT NSF Announcement of Opportunity is posted soliciting proposals in support of Synthesis in the Northwest Atlantic/Georges Bank Program and the Northeast Pacific/Coastal Gulf of Alaska Program.   This is posted with the caveats that this AO is not final and the dates may change.

11 March 2004:

  • USGLOBEC Funded Contributions List updated to include most recently assigned contribution numbers of scientific reports and manuscripts acknowledging USGLOBEC funding support.

Chronicling the background, research objectives, and future goals of the various component parts of U.S. GLOBEC, these summaries are meant to complement / update the existing program descriptions archived at GLOBEC-at-a-Glance, and provide an excellent programatic status report ....

  • The U.S. GLOBEC web suite, formerly hosted by the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES), Chesapeake Biological Laboratory (CBL), has now been successfully transferred to its new home at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution; all existing features should continue to be accessible as before ....

  • "Notes from the Field" section updated to include weekly photos / text sent by Dr. Se-jong Ju, a lipid biochemist at the University of Maryland, who is reporting from aboard the R/V Laurence M. Gould off Antarctica ....
